Lab Ethos*

We are scientists and we are also people. We strive to be objective, but we cannot be impartial or indifferent to the world we live in. We are committed to the creation of a more supportive, diverse, and inclusive academic world. This includes our institutions, funding agencies, and societies. So, in this lab, we:

  • Acknowledge that our physical lab space and offices are located on unceded Lheidli T'enneh territory

  • Maintain our field and lab workspaces as Safe Spaces

  • Truly value work-life balance and appreciate the importance of mental health

  • Embrace neurodiversity

  • Are LGTBQIA2S+ or allies

  • Believe in ecological justice

  • Are feminists, anti-racists, and anti-fascists

  • Use our privilege and voices to support our friends, colleagues, and students

  • Will listen and grow, continually, even when it's uncomfortable
